Upcoming Trainings and Conferences:

The Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault (GNESA) is sponsoring a clinical skills training January 10, 11, 12, 2020 in Statesboro, Georgia. Several NC SANEs will be helping.

Nurses attending can complete up to 10 speculum exams and 2-3 fulladult/adolescent proctored exams and evidence collection on live models. This will include everything that would be completed in a real scenario. North Carolina nurses will use North Carolina specific kits and processes.

The fee for the 3 days is $500. GNESA will offset some of the cost for NC nurses by paying for hotel expenses as long as nurses are willing to share a room. There are no other reimbursement opportunities so the nurses would have to pay for their mileage and food, etc.

North Carolina nurses who completed a North Carolina based didactic training will meet the clinical requirements as specified by the NC Board of Nursing.

North Carolina nurses who took an out of state training or online training will still have to complete the additional NC specific 8 hour training when they come back. This may be arranged in several ways and we can answer questions about this.

Interested nurses should contact me at deb@cacnc.org or call my cell 919-545-1353.

Again, this is really quick and we have to set the deadline by January 5.

Dear NC Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners,

We are writing to invite you to one of the NC Department of Justice’s regional trainings entitled “Sexual Assault Investigations: A multidisciplinary and trauma-informed approach.”  As a part of our Sexual Assault Kit Initiative grant and implementation of the Survivor Act, NCDOJ is hosting six regional trainings across the state in January and February (see dates and locations below).  Registration for these trainings are  now open!  For each MDT, we have invited the relevant law enforcement agency, district attorney, advocate, and sexual assault nurse examiner. If you expect to be a member of an MDT, please consider coordinating with your local law enforcement agencies to attend the appropriate training.

Here are the registration links to regional trainings.
